CLINIC PATIENT FOLLOW-UP · MALAYSIA

Make the next step easier to take.

A missed appointment or an unfinished booking conversation can leave the next step unclear. Watson helps your clinic follow up through connected channels, while the care team sets the plan for clinical follow-up.

The next patient contactWORKFLOW ILLUSTRATION

Offer a way back after a missed appointment.

When enabled, an eligible no-show can trigger a rebooking message after the clinic's configured delay. The conversation gives the patient a way to reply and arrange another suitable time.

A REASON TO CONTACT THE PATIENT

Match the message to what happened.

An upcoming appointment, a missed visit and a clinical review need different communication. Start with the actual situation and a useful next action.

01

Rebooking after a missed visit

Enable the missed-appointment follow-up separately from other outreach. Set the delay and sending hours, and review the wording the patient will receive.

  • A recorded no-show is the trigger
  • Channel and conversation eligibility still apply
  • The reply can continue into rebooking
02

A gentle return to an enquiry

Follow up with eligible patients who asked about a specific service and stopped replying. The clinic can configure a short sequence and its wording, with checks that keep it out of active or staff-controlled conversations.

  • Separate setting from no-show follow-up
  • A bounded sequence of up to three steps
  • Sending windows and cooldowns are configurable

AFTER THE CONSULTATION

The care team decides what comes next.

Clinical follow-up starts with the practitioner. Communication and scheduling help the patient act on those instructions.

Arrange the next visit with context

Staff can continue the conversation and book the appropriate service and practitioner. Once a visit is booked, appointment confirmation and reminder settings support that next appointment.

Keep a person responsible for clinical questions

A patient asking about symptoms, treatment or test results needs the clinic's care process. The shared inbox supports staff handover; the practitioner remains responsible for the clinical response and any change to the follow-up plan.

Review the outcome of the message

Follow-up records distinguish sent, skipped and failed delivery. Check replies and the resulting booking instead of treating a scheduled message as proof that the patient was contacted or their care was completed.

BEFORE YOUR DEMO

Your questions, answered.

How is patient follow-up different from an appointment reminder?

An appointment reminder refers to a visit already booked. Follow-up can help an eligible patient return after a missed visit or continue an unfinished enquiry. Clinical follow-up begins with the practitioner's instructions and may require staff to arrange the next visit.

Can missed appointments trigger an automatic message?

Yes, when no-show follow-up is enabled and the patient and conversation are eligible. The clinic configures the delay and sending hours. Channel restrictions, suppression and staff takeover can prevent a message from being sent.

Can the clinic choose the follow-up wording and timing?

The enquiry and no-show settings are independent. The clinic can set supported delays, sending hours, cooldowns and message overrides. Enquiry follow-up is limited to a short sequence of up to three steps.

Will Watson decide when a patient needs a clinical review?

No. The practitioner decides the clinical plan and review timing. This page describes communication, rebooking and staff handover. A condition-based recall register or clinical pathway automation needs a separate requirements review.

What if a patient opts out or staff are handling the thread?

Follow-up delivery checks suppression and conversation eligibility. Active staff takeover and paused conversations are excluded from the automated enquiry and no-show follow-up workflow. Your team can handle the patient directly where appropriate.

Is a sent follow-up the same as a completed follow-up visit?

No. Delivery, a patient reply, a new appointment and an attended visit are separate events. The clinic should check the relevant conversation and booking record for the outcome it needs.
