DENTAL PATIENT RECALLS & FOLLOW-UP

The next visit starts before the patient returns.

An unanswered enquiry, a missed appointment and a dentist’s requested review each need a different next step. Watson helps your practice keep those conversations moving, with the reason for contact still in view.

DIFFERENT REASONS. DIFFERENT FOLLOW-UPS.

The message starts with what happened.

THE REASON FOR CONTACT

Dentist requested a review

At the practice-set interval
Return for a specific reason.
WATSONHi Aisha, your next review with Dr Aina is due. Would you like help arranging a suitable appointment?

The dental team sets the interval and patient selection. Planned recalls use a separately configured outreach workflow.

Illustrative messages. Select a reason to see how the follow-up changes.

A note to call later is easy to lose in a busy day.

The patient intended to book. The receptionist intended to call. Then the practice got busy. Without a clear reason, owner and next action, a return visit can disappear into a spreadsheet or an old WhatsApp thread. A useful follow-up process connects the conversation to the visit it is meant to support.

HOW THE WORK CONNECTS

Know why you are reaching out.

  1. Identify the next step

Separate an unfinished enquiry, a missed appointment, an agreed next visit and a planned recall. Each starts from a different patient context.

  2. Set the right timing

Use configured enquiry and no-show follow-ups for recent activity. Plan longer-term recall outreach around the interval set by your dental team.

  3. Make it easy to reply

Continue through the enabled patient channel with a clear invitation to respond or arrange a suitable appointment.

  4. Connect the return visit

When the patient is ready, use the practice schedule to arrange the appointment. Keep staff involved when the request needs a person.

BUILT FOR YOUR PRACTICE

A reason to return. A clear way to arrange it.

Follow up on interest while the context is fresh

A patient who asked about a service may need help choosing a time or understanding the next administrative step. Configured follow-ups can pick up that unfinished conversation. Staff can see the earlier exchange instead of beginning with a generic message.

Give a missed appointment a practical next step

A no-show is an appointment outcome that may need a new conversation. Use the recorded visit context to offer a route back to booking, with staff handling sensitive circumstances and any questions about the patient’s care.

Plan recalls around the dentist’s instructions

A recall is a planned return, often much later than an enquiry follow-up. Agree who should be contacted, when and with what message as part of your practice’s configured outreach workflow. Your dentist sets the clinical interval; Watson does not infer that every patient needs the same review schedule.

BEFORE YOUR DEMO

A few things
worth knowing.

Can we use Watson for dental recalls?

Yes, planned recall outreach can form part of the practice workflow agreed during setup. Review the patient selection, timing, message and booking route with your team. It is separate from the recent-enquiry follow-up settings.

Does Watson choose a recall interval?

No. The dentist or practice sets the intended interval and patient selection. Watson does not decide the clinical need for another examination or apply a universal six-month schedule.

How are recalls different from appointment reminders?

A reminder supports an appointment that already exists. A recall invites a patient to arrange a future visit. An enquiry follow-up continues a conversation that has not yet become a booking.

Can a patient reply and arrange another visit?

The outreach workflow can lead into a conversation and a suitable appointment through the channels enabled for your practice. Staff can take over when the patient needs a person.

Can we review the follow-up process in the demo?

Yes. Bring examples of an unanswered enquiry, a missed visit and a planned recall. We will map the trigger, timing, patient response and staff responsibility for each.
